Contaminants have included: solvents, PCBs, TPH, metals, cyanide, methane, fungicides, pesticides, explosives and military chemical compounds.
    • Supervise and interpret hydrogeologic tests, geophysical surveys and soil gas surveys. Design, supervise and inspect the installation of wells (monitoring, injection and extraction). Collect subsurface soil samples and log soil borings. Assess site characterization and determine the extent of groundwater contamination at hazardous waste sites. Analyze and interpret chemical, geophysical, geological and hydrological data, and report on the results.
  GEOTECHNICAL CONSULTING:
    • Perform and analyze geotechnical properties of soils in laboratory. Analyze: water content, Atterberg Limits, specific gravity, grain size distribution (sieve and hydrometer analyses), standard compaction, permeability, consolidation, direct shear and compression strength (uniaxial and triaxial).
    • Conduct on site testing of soils to assess proper compaction and moisture content for building foundations, sewer lines, highways and earthen dams.
    • Conduct slope stability studies and subsidence projections.
  MINING CONSULTING AND MINERAL EXPLORATION:
    • Map geologic facies and structural features to assist engineers in the design of mines. Examine faults and fractures of overburden rock and mineable coal seams to determine optimum panel orientation for underground mines.
    • Conduct and analyze rock mechanic results to assess the load bearing capacity of pillars in underground coal and trona mines, and underground oil shale retort facility. Assess optimum panel orientation and develop alternative pillar design plans.
    • Evaluate the factors of safety for slope stability. Examine rock mechanic results and lithologies to develop a criteria to classify the rock types in designing open pit slopes. Analyze the extent of mine subsidence to assess if any surface structures would be affected.
    • Assess extent and concentration of mineral resources, including: uranium, gold, lead-zinc, and volcanic ash (for use as a light weight aggregate).
